Teamtastic Performance
By Ian Tomlinson.

Unbeaten in five previous games without really pressing home their advantage in many matches Town had high hopes against local rivals Buckland and Milber. Town lined up in their settled 2-3-1 formation and were kicking up the hill in the first half. However it was the viisitors who had slightly the better of the early exchanges without forcing any clear cut chances. Town grew in stature though and soon began to spray the ball around the park. Thomas and Sean at the back were quicker to the ball than the opposition forwards and on numerous occasions came to meet the ball and set up attacks keeping the pressure on the oranges.   The midfield trio of Jack T, Liam and Matt now began to dominate not only winning their individual battles but moving the ball smartly around the park with Jack pinging excellent crosses into the opposition box. Forward passes began to find the dangerous Harry up front who brought the midfield into play with excellent lay offs. It wasn't long before Harry made it count with a delightful chip to put the Town ahead. The confidence began to flow as well as the football. Buckland and Milber threatened from a couple of corners but the defensive organistaion was superb. All men marked and an eagerness to get to the ball meant Town intercepted and launched cutting counter-attacks.   The next goal was not long in coming when Liam fed Jack T who teed it up and swept a volley home from just outside the box - no more than Town deserved. But we have been here before and Town needed to keep their foot on the gas. Jay came on into midfield and showed he had been having back heel training with a couple of skill spots. Half time came with Town having a comfortable lead and kicking down the hill in the second half.   With no changes at half time Town again came out to show they meant business. Liam was tenacious in the tackle and the football and applause just kept coming. Callum playing in goal kept his clean sheet by pushing one excllent shot round the post. Matt moved up front to pose a threat from his pace and Jack C filled in on the right of defence with his typical enthusiasm. Buckland and Milber only once got behind the Town defence but Town never let the Oranges back into this one and some of the football was glorious.   If this report sounds upbeat it is meant to. Town have sometimes approached this level of football going forward before and have looked very solid at the back. Today however both happened at the same time. It is difficult to pick out individuals, the defence was great, midfiled dominated, passing superb and there was a cutting edge. However, special mentions to 'hat-trick' Haskell and Liam, who was outstanding in central midfield but man of the match to Jack T - composure on the ball, great passing and crossing and a couple of goals to boot.   Wow - it doesnt get much better than that - well done boys. One tough game to come against Roselands!!!!
