A Great Effort
By The Roving Reporter.

This was a competitive game from the outset, both teams were intent on playing good football and covering every blade of the Buckland pitch. Gavin Lake and Kian Gentry were working overtime to win the midfield battle, tackling well and trying to feed the front pairing of Tyler Bidgood and Daniyil Borysenko. But this was a useful Buckland outfit the Town Stripes facing, and pressure was being placed on Luke Selley and Dominic Osborne in the Town defence. When they were beaten, Rostic Borysenko was outstanding in the Town goal, handling confidently and sweeping up any dangers with the minimum of fuss. Eventually the pressure told though, a good Buckland move saw a shot powered into the Town goal. A little shocked, Town responded and Tyler flashed a shot across the goal, then soon after a chip shot from Daniyil Borysenko just cleared the Buckland crossbar…….oh so close. But Buckland were always lively on the break, good work down the flanks saw a Buckland striker in behind the Town defence, and a cool finish gave the Stripes a bit of work to do going into the second half to claw back the two goal deficit.

Into the second half, and a rejuvenated Town Stripes are putting a lot of pressure on Buckland, pushing them back and making them panic a little. Luke Selley drives out of defence and feeds Tyler Bidgood. Coming in on the angle towards goal, Tyler curls a delicious left foot shot into the far corner of the Buckland goal. Tyler has now scored in every game this season bar one, and looks a natural frontman. With just one goal the difference, this competitive game was really hotting up. But Buckland were proving dangerous opponents, several shots were fired in on the Town goal, but exceptional goalkeeping from Rostic Borysenko was equal to each attempt, on one occasion a Buckland player broke through on goal, and Rostic bravely came out and cleared the ball off the foot of the striker. Sadly luck wasn’t to stay with Rostic, in clearing another danger out wide, a Buckland player scores from an acute angle. A very well taken goal. With time ebbing away, Buckland forced a corner, and a well struck centre is deflected into the net to give the score a rather one sided score line which didn’t reflect the close nature of this exciting match. A good effort by both teams.
