After numerous wash-outs it was a joy for Town to actually play a match, with some weak winter sunshine fighting the bitterly cold air lingering across Coach Road as kick off approached.

Town started playing down the slope, and from the kick off they were pressing forward against an Apollo side that made their defensive intentions clear with three players at the back. However with Town pushing players forward in attack, Apollo were looking to play on the break - their pacey counter-attacking saw Harry Hingston make some vital interceptions at the back for Town in the early stages.

However most of the play was in the Apollo half and a couple of goalmouth scrambles saw Town go mighty close to opening the scoring, with Jay Moulton and Matt Groves among the players seeing their efforts cleared off the  line. However the first goal came soon after, and it was the visitors who opened the scoring with another swift break away. A Town shot from Liam Short was well saved by the Apollo ‘keeper, and one goal kick and one incisive pass later the visiting forward was through on the Town goal and showed great composure to slot home for 0-1.

The half ended with Town still pushing forward, as Harry Haskell and Josh Hammett began pulling the strings in midfield, supported by Liam and Cameron Smith with their strong running to support the forwards. However it was still 0-1 at the interval, during which the Town players were urged to keep playing football and hope they could convert their pressure into goals.

Early in the second half and Town levelled the scores with a great team goal that saw Matt fire home from close range after some neat passing and movement which allowed Cameron to surge down the right wing and find a pinpoint cross for his striker to make no mistake. The goal seemed to lift Town, and they were back on the attack again. This time it was Jay showing some neat footwork on the left wing who fired the ball  across and Matt was there again to score his and the teams second goal for a 2-1 lead.

Apollo kept playing their football, and some more battling in midfield from debutant Sean Richards kept goal scoring chances to a minimum, with one brave header clearing a dangerous long ball. Harry Hingston and Joe Strickland were also in command of the Town defense, and Jack Clarkson in the town goal was rarely called into action during the second period.

Town wrapped the game up with a stunning third goal scored by Liam. However the goal owed plenty to a powerful run from Harry Haskell, but realising there was no-one in the box he pulled an intelligent ball back to Liam who ran on and struck a curling first-time shot over the Apollo ‘keeper and into the far corner.
