The under 11 Red team finally hosted Bovey Tracey Pilgrims in the first round of the Pioneer League cup this Saturday on a very moist pitch with very wet goal mouths. With Matt and Nathan missing, it was always going to be a tough game, but the first half gave te Town hope of a cup upsat against a first division team doing well in the league. It all started evenly with Town having just as many chances as the visitors and a 0-0 halftime scoreline was justified. The second half begun and visitors started to press us more, their first goal was a lapse in defence with an unmarked player at the back post tapping in from less than a yard. Time and Time again the Town defence backed off players outside the box and it was only a matter of time before we were punished again. The Bovey striker was left in acres of space, and with time, picked his spot and fired low and hard past the diving Alfie in the town goal. The game finished as 0-2 to Bovey, a fair scoreline considering they are a league above us. Well done to the Town team who all played well, especially Alfie in goal who made some great saves in difficult conditions and to Liam who was awarded MOM for some stalwart defending. |
