Town started in their preferred 1-4-1 formation. From the off it was a competitive and close fought game with excellent passing and movement by both teams.
Josh starting in goal made some good stops but the Broadmeadow keeper was equally busy at the other end. Town played some flowing football with Matt up front latching onto some intelligent passes from Jack T. Joe was as industrious as ever in midfield with Jay playing in the anchor role.
Despite the refs best attempts by pulling the play back as Broadmeadow broke through the free kick was despatched into the top corner with aplomb to open the scoring for Broadmeadow.
Town had a couple of players playing in new positions - Harry Haskell at the top of the midfield diamond and Thomas snuffing out many attacks as the sole defender.
Jack C took his usual goalkeeping position in the second half to keep a clean sheet whilst Josh moved into midfield. Town now kicking down the hill were putting pressure on the Broadmeadow goal but just couldn't force the ball home. A number of great defensive headers prevented the equaliser. An all too familiar story this season as Town were extremely competitive throughout the match but just couldn't find the killer punch to get the rewards their efforts deserved. MOM: Thomas an excellent display in his first outing for Town in defence. |
