The U11 Red side travelled to Chudleigh today, still searching for our first away win of the season.
The game started with Alfie in goal, Liam, Nathan and Callum across the back, Matt in the Middle and Jake and Sam up front on a lovely if not slightly square pitch.
We started brightly and if not for the towering goalkeeper in the Chudleigh goal, we could have been 5-0 up at half time!
The forward three for Town was dominating the early exchanges of the first half, with Matt, Jake, Sam and Callum from the back, dribbling through the Chudleigh team at will, but the keeper was keeping the home side in it.
Some fantastic passing work from Sam and Jake saw Callum released on the wing, to drive a great ball across the front of the keeper through two defenders to Jake at the back post who tapped into an empty net. 0-1!
Chudleigh piled on the pressure at the close of the second half and if it wasn’t for Alfie’s great work in the Town goal, they would have scored.
Half time, Matt came off for Tim, and Liam cam off for Dan, Nathan moved to left back with Dan going in at right back.
The second half was counter attacking from end to end with both keepers making some incredible saves, first the Chudleigh keeper tipping over from Tim’s dipping volley, then Alfie tipping around the post when the Chudleigh striker was one on one!
The game finished at 0-1 to us, a very entertaining game, with some wonderful play from the Reds, thoroughly deserving the 3 points. Both myself and Rick the Chudleigh coach were amazed at how it stayed at 1 goal, it could have been lots more.
Man of the Match was given to Sam for tireless running and great movement and passing. A big mention goes to Alfie who kept a great clean sheet in between the sticks.
Well done boys, well deserved and the other results yesterday were very kind as we now sit TOP OF THE TABLE!!!
