The newly formed U9 Blacks hosted Buckland and Milber at Coach Road. Playing 8-a-side Town opened with a 2-3-2 formation. The opening exchanges were very even with the match shifting one way then the other. Rhys H playing at the back got involved early on with Town feeding balls into Kieron their speed merchant up front. Joseph, captain for the day after his man of the match performance in training was getting stuck in, in the midfield along with Aiden who showed somwe good touches. After a few close shaves at either end Town took the lead with a well taken goal from Rhys T, scoring for the second game in a row. Town held their lead until half time but had to kick up the slope in the second half.
Liam looked especially assured on the ball with some great tackles and distribution and a couple of good shots well saved by the opposition goalie.. Daniel continued to hunt the ball in the middle of the park but despite some great saves from Rostyk the Buckland and Milber presssure began to count. Everybody had to dig deep and compete. Town were not without their bouts of pressure as both teams worried the woodwork. Oliver made a number of good interceptions passing the ball forward down the left flank.
Town competed really well in this match but the extended twenty minutes each way took its toll in the end. Special mentions to Rostyk in goal who threw himself at striker's feet on a number of occasions to save certain goals but man of the match to Rhys Tapp who was a constant threat carrying the ball forward from midfield. |
