Newton Town under 12's were home to KM united this weekend and more than played their part in a thrilling 3-3 draw. After their improved effort last week Town were keen to build on that progress in only their third game at 11 a side and they did just that with a great all round display. We still have a lot of hard work to do but we are going in the right direction, said coach Graham Taylor. From the off Town looked a lot more organised and were working hard for each other, we were keen to play a more attacking game this week and during the first half both teams were playing attacking football and having several chances, although mid way through the first half it was KM United who took the lead with a well worked goal but credit to the Town they kept working hard and a great through ball from Connor saw our in form forward Alistair latch on to it and calmly slot home to bring town level half time 1-1. The second half was once again full of attacking football from both teams with both keepers pulling off several very good saves and Town were looking the most likely to score but it was KM who went in front to lead 2-1 but again credit to the Town boys they kept their heads up and went in search of the equaliser and put KM under a lot of pressure. We won a corner, the corner was cleared but only as far as our centre half Sam Denton who smashed the ball low into the bottom corner to bring Town level. Town continued to push forward and a stunning strike from Andray put Town 3-2 up, near the end KM scored to level at 3-3 but it was a great all round performance. Joint man of the match Owen Barlow - some very good saves and Sam Denton - a stunning strike to score his first goal.
