Town went in to the match with a full squad of players available looking to build on some encouraging signs from the previous weeks game against Kingsteignton. Playing dow the hill Town showed some nice early passing, and although B&M looked dangerous going forward some good saves from Jack kept the game scoreless early. Some nice interplay from midfield twice saw Harry running at the B&M defence and creating some good attacking positions which Town could not quite capitalise on.
B&M eventually opened the scoring but Town bounced back with some more positive midfield play from Ben Sharratt and Charlie again allowing Harry to show some great touches and put Town on the attack, but they could not find away past the visiting keeper. After some more great shot stopping from Jack, B&M scored a well worked second and then found a third with a powerful strike into the corner. However with the game approaching half time Town again went forward and after the first 25 minutes Town had played by far their best football of the season to trail 3-0.
Into the second half and despite resolute defending from Alex Blackburn and Oscar, B&M increased their lead a couple more times but yet again Town were not overawed and some more nice touches from Harry, supported by Ben Staines and Jamie, gave Town another period of attacking play which looked almost certain to lead to a Town goal but somehow the ball refused to cross the line and was eventually cleared.
In the final 5 minutes B&M scored another 3 goals in quick succession with the Town players looking out on their feet. It was a shame that the game ended that way because it would have been very much deserved for this to have been the teams best scoreline of the season so far - it was certainly the best performance by some distance and to have the game at 0-5 after 40 minutes was a superb performance against an older and more experienced side.
Man of the Match was awarded to Harry for some excellent forward play, although every player acquited themselves with great credit and hopefully the team will again move forward from this performance.
