With Chelston having goalkeeper difficulties, Mark bond kindly allowed Ben England and Kian Gentry to share goal keeping duties for both teams. On a tight pitch space was at a premium and the chance for players from both sides to show their skills was in high demand. Chelston had the upper hand and made good use of their pressure, when a cross in from the right was well finished by the lingering striker.
Lots of effort was expelled as neither team could get any momentum but on one occasion when Towns’ Jake Cogavin could get a way, he was tripped. From the resulting free kick Tyler Bidgood hits a perfect left footed shot which takes a deflection off Kiara–Jade Robins and nestles in the bottom corner. Scores all square. Soon after its half time, and also time to make wholesale changes in the Newton Town ranks.
With so many changes Town are a little disjointed early in the second half and Chelston boss the midfield, leaving the Newton Town strikers a little isolated. But eventually the game evens out again, both teams having exciting goal mouth scrambles. But out of the blue, one clean strike from a Chelston player settles this game.
A tight game, evenly contested and played in a good spirit.
