Town U11 Reds entertained Totnes and Dartington at Coach Road this weekend.
We started with Dan in goal, Callum, Nathan and Matt across the back, Tim in the middle and Jake and Joe up front, with Sam on the bench eager to come on.
The emphasis this week was not to concede first in the early stage of the game, like we have in the last two matches.
Straight away we were on the attack, with good interplay between the Town strikers. The ball eventually made its way back to Dan in the Town goal. His kick beat all of the T & D players and Joe volleyed in with his left foot. 1-0!
3 minutes later, an identical move saw Joe score his second; another big kick from Dan beat the whole T & D team. 2-0! 10 minutes played.
5 minutes later, Jake and Joe combined well in attack and Jake slotted past the keeper to make it 3-0!
Just before half time, T & D threw everyone forward to try and rescue the game, and a great cross saw them recover a goal. 3-1!
At half time, Tim came off for Sam to sit in the middle.
The second half really was end to end football, with T & D attacking en masse with Town breaking on the counter regularly, Dan was rarely troubled, but dealt with everything thrown at him. Likewise the T & D keeper was having an inspired second half.
Matt’s brilliant quick decision not to chase the attacker, but to cover the goal line saw a goal bound shot beat Dan in the goal, but headed out by the Town left back.
Joe came off to applause from all sides of the pitch; Sam pushed up front and Tim came back on n the middle.
Only a wonderful save from the T & D keeper in the last minute from Tim’s shot when clean through kept the score line as it was at half time.
3-1 final score and a well deserved second win for the Reds. Man of the match was chosen from the sideline and was given to a very deserving Joe who worked his socks off all game, but as stated ‘could have gone to any of them’.
Well done Reds, 2 wins out of 3! |
