This performance was as bright from Newton Town, as the late September morning. Town from the kick off were keen in the tackle, and had Liverton fully extended in defence. Typical in the opening passages of play, was the good battling in midfield from Jaden Bond, who on one occasion found Kiara-Jade Robins in the box, she instinctively turned and fired into the net. A few minutes later and it was strike partner Tyler Bidgood’s turn, a Kiara-Jade shot cannoning off the post and landing at the feet of Tyler, no mistakes from the striker in form.
The Newton Town pressure was relentless, and further goals for the front pairing of Tyler Bidgood and Kiara-Jade Robins followed, plus another good individual goal for Jake Cogavin, and a unfortunate OG completed the first half action. A good half for Newton Town, and also the Liverton goalkeeper, who had made several good saves.
The second half started with a change in goal for Newton Town, Ben England making way for Kian Gentry. Liverton kicked off and tried to get some passing moves together. But the hard working midfield of Jake Cogavin, Jaden Bond and Thomas Keight made this job hard for the blues of Liverton. Moves were broken up, and good passing through to Kiara-Jade led to more goals for this striker in form. Liverton were finding it hard to get within striking range themselves, but they were hindered by excellent defensive play from Luke Selley and Ben Walton for Town. In an end to end last 5 minutes, the final whistle is at last blown.
A proud moment for Manager Mark Bond and coach Kevin Selley, their Newton Town team played excellently from first whistle to last, and the future looks bright for this young team.
