Town’s Black team played their first ever game, and were always going to have a tough task with some inexperienced players up against some of the home sides players who had just completed the previous “Orange” match.
The result was never going to matter too much, with Town’s management looking more for enjoyment and experience for their players. Among many good performances were those from Harry Haskell, who’s first game in several months was full of his trademark direct running up front, and Rocco Morgan who put in numerous good tackles at the back. Rhys Hammond and Oliver White look defenders of some promise, while Thomas Andrews provided lots of tenacity in midfield and all but scored – Buckland’s defender producing an amazing block on the line.
Ben England made a couple of good saves in goal, Cameron Wood looked full of confidence throughout and Luke Selley gave another whole-hearted performance in midfield along with Adam Reed.
The Black side will doubtless go through a few transitions this season, as players may come and go, and it is hoped that whichever players represent the team will do so with the same effort and enthusiasm that this squad showed during their first game. |
