Get Involved with Newton Town FC

Newton Town can only exist through the help and involvement of adult volunteers, and quite simply the more volunteers we have, the more that we can do as a club both on and off the field.

Volunteering in junior football in great fun and hugely rewarding. No experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm and ideas. As I am sure you will appreciate, safeguarding children is our number one priority, so we ask that all volunteers complete an enhanced CRB disclosure, and we may ask for a "character reference" from an employer or similar.

Below is a list of current "vacancies" - these are specific jobs that we really need someone to do. However you can still get involved in lots of other ways, even if the role that you are interested in does not appear in the list.

Our volunteer co-ordinator is Ian Tomlinson, so please contact him about any of the vacancies below or for any other information regarding helping with the club. He can usually be found at Coach Road on Saturday mornings, email tomlini@blueyonder.co.uk or mobile 07717 817 044

CURRENT VACANCIES

POSITION: UNDER 8's RED TEAM WELFARE OFFICER (TWO)

DESCRIPTION: A TWO supports the team manager and coach in ensuring the welfare and safety of children during training and matches. Basically they are "an extra pair of eyes and ears" around the team and another friendly face that children (and parents) can talk to if they have any concerns.

WHEN: TWO's are usually present at matches and training sessions

OPPORTUNITIES: The club can fund FA 'Safeguarding Young People' training which is a requirement of the position. There are opportunities to take additional Child Welfare courses if interested.

POSITION: Under 9's Blacks Team Manager

DESCRIPTION: Team Managers are the "admin" people who arrange matches, communicate with parents, and fill in paperwork after the match. Managers usually work closely with coaches and although some Managers are also Coaches, they do not need to have any knowledge of football itself. The Under 9's Blacks Manager would work closely with the Under 9s Coaching team and also receive support and guidance from the Under 9s Reds Manager.

WHEN: Managers need to be present for most team matches which are mainly on Sunday mornings either at Coach Road or around South Devon. Being at training on Saturday mornings 10am - 11am may help but is not essential.

OPPORTUNITIES: The club can fund First Aid and Child Protection Training which is a requirement of the position. There is also the opportunity to progress to take an FA coaching qualification although that is not a requiremnent of the position.

POSITION: UNDER 11's BLACK TEAM WELFARE OFFICER (TWO)
